LOCAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN CONSULTATION

Aberdeenshire Council has published the proposed Local Development Plan, which is out to consultation until October 1.

The plan sets out the Council’s objectives and priorities for the development and use of land until 2003.

Among its most controversial proposals is a new settlement of over 4,000 houses at Elsick, south of Aberdeen and significant expansions to Inverurie and Kintore.

John Findlay, Planning Partner at Ryden urged people to have their say on the proposals. “Given the importance of the proposed LDP in guiding development in the North East over the next ten year period it is imperative that anyone with land or property interests impacted by it make their views known before the public consultation ends on October 1 2010. Otherwise it could be another five years before they get the opportunity.”

The Council has said it does not propose to make any modifications to the Local Development Plan in response to representations. Instead if they consider there is a need to change the LDP in response to representations they will advise the Reporter appointed to hold the examination of the plan and leave the Reporter to decide n modifications.

The examination of the plan is expected to be held next Spring before it is adopted around next autumn.
