CB RICHARD ELLIS SECURES SALE FOR STEWART MILNE DEVELOPMENTS

Stewart Milne Developments has secured the sale of the former Acergy site at Bucksburn, Aberdeen, represented by leading property consultant CB Richard Ellis (Scotland).

Mechanical services company, EnerMech Ltd, which already leased part of the property, has acquired the entire 16 acre Howes Road site for £4 million.

The property comprises of office space totalling 68,000 sq ft, industrial storage facilities, a 38,000 sq ft workshop and a yard extending to 6000 sq yards. EnerMech has already started the demolition of older buildings and will carry out refurbishment work and erect custom-built workshops to cater for new business lines soon to be introduced.

Mike Robertson, managing director, Aberdeen, CB Richard Ellis (Scotland), commented: “This development is something of a landmark in the local oil industry having housed some of the major names in the business over many years. The latest sale gives the new owners the opportunity to create a unit specifically tailored to their needs and shows a long term commitment to the area.

“Our Building Consultancy team from CBRE co-ordinated the provision of all the required technical reports, which facilitated the smooth transaction.”

Malcolm Deans, managing director, Stewart Milne Developments, added: “We acquired this complex as part of a deal to provide a new HQ for Acergy at Westhill. Having first secured a letting of the main space to EnerMech we are pleased that they have now completed the sale of the heritable interest in the entire complex.”

Doug Duguid, managing director of EnerMech, said: “We have leased the site since March 2009 and when it came on the market to purchase we identified Howes Road as an ideal location for our global headquarters. It can accommodate our changing needs as we gear up for significant expansion and offers us greater flexibility in responding to client requirements.”

CB Richard Ellis (Scotland) acted on behalf of Stewart Milne Developments, while EnerMech Limited was represented by AB Robb.
