INVERNESS AIRPORT BUSINESS PARK SIGNS FIRST OCCUPIER

Bond Helicopters to Relocate

Bond Air Services has signed a lease to become the first occupier of the 250-Hectare Inverness Airport Business Park (IABP).

The facility, close to Inverness Airport’s runway, will be a new base for the north of Scotland’s vital Air Ambulance as well as providing helicopter operational support for the Northern Lighthouse Board

Infrastructure and construction work is already underway, with completion of the new hanger and support buildings by November.

This investment sees Bond move from its current facility on the north side of the Inverness Airport to more modern accommodation.

Alan Price, Chairman of IABP, a joint venture between Highlands and Islands Airports,  Moray Estates and HIE, said: “We are delighted to welcome Bond Helicopters to the business park.

“This deal follows April’s announcement that leading industrial developer Roxhill Developments will develop over 400,000 of IABP, creating around 700 jobs.

“After many years of hard work and planning IABP is now in business. We look forward to signing many more deals in the near future.”

Shaun Strain, Director of Ground Operations at Bond, which operates out of 24-sites around the UK, and Ireland said: “We’re delighted to sign this deal with IABP and to effectively launch the business park.  While Bond has had a presence close to Inverness area for some time, this deal represents our commitment to growth in the region and gives us room for future expansion.

“The Highlands, with its vast and challenging topography, has a real need for helicopter services, be it for transportation, lifeline services or industry – particularly with the growth of the renewable energy industry. We are now ideally placed to meet the challenges these market opportunities present.”
